Rationing the old-age allowance - a backwards step

This opinion piece was written in response to the proposal from the Thailand Government to impose an income test on the old-age allowance. It highlights the positive economic and social impacts of the pension and the administrative complexities that selective targeting will introduce. Instead of the arbitrary reduction that the government has proposed, this article calls for further investment in the allowance to ensure that it provides an adequate minimum for older people in Thailand.
